As a young kanaka maoli (Native Hawaiian) from the West Side of O‘ahu, Coach Bubs (Joshua Martin) played football and baseball and ran track. He graduated from the Kamehameha Schools Kapālama and received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from the University of San Diego. Upon moving home, he started coaching baseball at his alma mater.
Coach Bubs moved with his family to Kaua‘i, where he started coaching football at Kapa‘a High School. MVP Academy’s mission is to build momentum for elite performance through athletic training, physiological education, leadership development, and character building. Student-athletes benefit from programs that have a scientific approach coupled with a Native Hawaiian perspective. MVP provides a safe environment and utilizes technology to analyze data, making real-time decisions to maximize potential.
