A multi-year NCAA regional assistant coach of the year, Chris Parno enters his seventh season with Minnesota State University as Associate Head Track and Field Coach for both the men’s and women’s track and field programs. Parno directly coaches the men’s and women’s sprint/hurdle groups and serves as the recruiting coordinator. Prior to Minnesota State, he spent two years as an assistant track and field coach at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Parno was a member of the University of Minnesota-Duluth track and field team from 2005-2010. While with the Bulldogs, he earned All-North Central (NCC) and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) honors seven times and captured the NSIC title in the 400-meter hurdles as a senior. He also competed in the heptathlon (2009 conference runner-up), decathlon (2012 conference runner-up), and 4x400-meter relay.
Parno earned a bachelor’s degrees in physical education and health education from UMD in 2010 and a master’s degree in sports administration and leadership from Augustana in 2012.
