Mark Bennett will begin his role as the Head of Sports Science and Medicine with the English Rugby Union in July. He was previously the Head of Performance with Bristol Rugby. Before that, Mark served as Head of Strength and Conditioning with Ospreys Rugby (they were 2x league champions, 2009-2010 and 2011-2012) and for Wales (2x Grand Slams and Triple Crowns, 2005 and 2008). Additionally, he has served as Head of Academy Strength and Conditioning for Wales. Mark represented Wales in International Rugby at all levels, from Under-18 to Senior, and played in the 1995 Rugby World Cup.
In addition to rugby, Mark enjoys trout fishing, weightlifting, CrossFit (while realizing it plays no part in the lives of elite athletes!), and statistics.
Mark has written and contributed to articles published in Physiological Genomics, The Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, Journal of Sports Sciences, and International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance.
